San Francisco 49ers Are Not Favored To Win Any 2016 Regular Season Games

By Brad Berreman

Hope typically springs eternal when a new coach is hired, and the San Francisco 49ers are obviously hoping Chip Kelly leads a quick turnaround. But ESPN.com has posted a list of projected 2016 NFL regular season point spreads for Week 1-16, and the 49ers are not favored in any of those contests.

Three games are listed as pick ’ems for San FranciscoWeek 7 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Week 9 against the New Orleans Saints and Week 14 against the New York Jets. Week 17 was apparently deemed to be “too speculative”to carry much weight or be comfortably projected, as if the other 16 weeks aren’t highly random too.

The 49ers are not the only team that is not favored in any games during the coming the season by those ESPN point spreads, with the Cleveland Browns joining that rank. If nothing else, being written off by odds-makers, even at this far too early stage, can be used as a motivational tool by two new head coaches.
