Earlier this week, news broke that the Minnesota Vikings would not pick up Adrian Peterson’s $18 million option for the 2017 season. Peterson will now become a free agent on the open market for the first time in his NFL career and the 32-year-old should have plenty of options.
Here are the five most likely landing spots for Adrian Peterson.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers have a big question mark at running back as Doug Martin was suspended last season for using Adderall and later entered rehab. With Charles Sims' inability to stay healthy, Peterson could be an option for the Bucs.
New York Giants

The Giants have been looking for a featured back for years and Peterson could be just the guy they're looking for. Ben McAdoo has already said that the Giants would take a look at Adrian and Peterson has expressed interest in playing for the Giants.
Green Bay Packers

Could Peterson pull a reverse Brett Favre? Eddie Lacy is a free agent and there would be no better way for the Packers to stick it to the division rival Vikings than to sign Peterson. It remains to be seen if Adrian would be open to going to Green Bay.
Oakland Raiders

The Raiders had a tremendous regular season in 2016, but were dealt a tough blow when Derek Carr went down. Latavius Murray is expected to test free agency which would open up an opportunity for Peterson to head to Oakland.
Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings are reportedly leaving the window open for Peterson to return. The team had to decline the option for financial reasons, but that doesn't mean that Adrian is necessarily done in Minnesota. It will be interesting to see what happens.
