New England Patriots Rumors: Brandon Marshall, Super Bowl Champions Have Mutual Interest

By Jason Fletcher

Last season was one of the worst of Brandon Marshall’s career as he was only able to haul in 59 passes for 788 yards and three touchdowns as the New York Jets played a game quarterback carousel with Ryan Fitzpatrick, Geno Smith, and Bryce Petty all receiving starts during the season.

Last week, the Jets made the decision to release the 32-year-old Marshall and now Brandon will be looking for a new home for the 2017 season. According to the Boston Globe’s Ben Volin, that new home could be with the New England Patriots as both sides reportedly have “mutual interest.”

If Marshall were to sign with the Patriots, it would only strengthen the team’s chances of repeating as Super Bowl Champions as Rob Gronkowski will be returning as well and would give Tom Brady a trio of Marshall, Gronkowski, and Julian Edelman to throw the ball to.
