Pittsburgh Steelers Draft Hometown Cancer Survivor James Conner in Second Round

Some stories in sports just seem too good to be true, and that’s where you can file the journey of Pittsburgh running back James Conner after Friday night.

After being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma during Thanksgiving of 2015, Conner had chemotherapy and showed incredible determination by continuing to play while undergoing treatment.

And that perseverance was rewarded by his hometown Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

It’s one thing for Conner to get drafted at all, but to be chosen by the local team after beating cancer is just on a whole different level of awesome.

Congratulations to this tough young man and best wishes for continued success at the next level!
