Derek Carr, Raiders Talking Contract Extension Worth $25 Million Per Year

By Anthony Blake

The importance of the quarterback position in the NFL is only growing, so it stands to reason that the salaries increase accordingly.

Soon enough, that will be the case for Oakland Raiders signal-caller Derek Carr, as he is reportedly nearing an extension that will pay him $25 million annually.

Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts currently has the highest average annual paycheck of $24.594 million per season, but Carson Palmer and Drew Brees also take home more than $24 million a year.

At just 26 years of age, Carr is the youngest among these gunslingers and has shown just how critical he is to Oakland’s ability to win.

Say hello to the new-age NFL, where contracts have annual values more than guys a couple decades ago took home for their entire careers.
