Steelers' Ben Roethlisberger Cites CTE as Reason Why 2017 May Be Final Season

By Anthony Blake

We’ve seen several NFL players give up the game early recently due to an increased worry about health beyond the gridiron, and now those concerns are reaching even the mainstays out on the field.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is known for his grit and will to play through the pain, but even he is questioning that motivation in a recent interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

The fact that a lifer like Roethlisberger is questioning his own mortality in the game has to be worrisome for a league trying to maintain its image after the recent CTE study came out.

Though its findings were damning, the real proof will come after this season to see if Big Ben and others follow through on their retirement threats.
