Kovalev Set To Return To The Burgh?
According to Will DePaoli of Inside Pittsburgh Sports, there is much speculation around the league that the Penguins will attempt to land current Ottawa Senator Alexei Kovalev.
The soon-to-be 38-year-old spent 5 seasonss playing for Pittsburgh, from 1998 to 2003. He recorded his career high of 95 points here in the 2000-2001 season.
Kovalev is in the final year of his contract, and brings along a caphit of $5 million, now affordable by the Penguins.
Kovy has 23 points in 48 games, and is clearly on the downside of his career.
He could likely be had for a mid-to-late draft pick or two.
