Carolina defenseman Jamie McBain suffered a shoulder injury earlier this week and had to undergo surgery. It was highly possible that McBain could miss the remainder of the season (around 4-6 weeks) but now coach Paul Maurice told the media and posted on Twitter that his recovery is ahead of track. He may return 1-2 weeks earlier than originally expected. This is good news for the Hurricanes because he has played a crucial role the latter half of this season at the blue line and on the power play.
McBain participated in practice today and skated with a non-contact jersey which means it is highly likely that McBain will see a game or two before playoffs start. On the season, McBain has 5 goals and 25 points with a -9 rating.
