Winnik's Last Second Goal Bolsters Avalanche

By Randy Holt
Milan Hedjuk had the shootout deciding goal in his 900th career game.

The Colorado Avalanche trailed the majority of the game on Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets. That was until Daniel Winnik scored with 4 seconds left to force overtime and eventually a shootout.

The other goals scorers were Matt Duchene twice , and Ryan O’Reilly.

R.J. Umberger had a pair for Columbus, and Rick Nash and Derek Mackenzie had the two other goals

Milan Hejduk was the only person to score in the shootout, giving the Avalanche the 5-4 shootout win. The win also marked Hejduk’s 900th game.

The 35 year old veteran is the lone Quebec Nordic left on the Avalanche. Hejduk has 749 career NHL points, and two Stanley cups.

The Avalanche play the Toronto Maple Leafs tomorrow at 7:00pm. Both teams are struggling of late, and neither are in the Playoff picture.
