Sergei Bobrovsky Back Between the Pipes Tonight Against Pittsburgh After Rough Start
Sergei Bobrovsky will be in net tonight for yet another big game for the orange and black. He also started against the Washington Capitals on Monday, another big game. Only, he didn’t finish the game. He was pulled early in the 2nd period after giving up his third goal of the game, putting his team in a 3-0 hole.
Bobrovsky looked uncomfortable, and out of position on Monday night against the Capitals. Whether he was far too deep in net, or simply wasn’t able to locate where he was, Bobrovsky was off his game.
Tonight, he’ll get a chance at redemption. Head coach Peter Laviolette will go with Bobrovsky again in net , and it’s a great move. Not only the confidence Laviolette is showing, but the lesson that can be learned by Bobrovsky. The best quality a good goaltender can have is a short memory. Allowing Bobrovsky to sit out, especially being a young player, he’d obviously feel disheartened. Throwing him back into the fire will allow him to show what he’s made of. Laviolette is giving Bobrovsky every opportunity to prove that he can be the “guy.”
Also, it’s a tactical move by Laviolette. Bobrovsky will have his chance to prove whether or not he can be this teams goaltender in the playoffs. A strong performance against a very resilient Pittsburgh team, with playoff implications involved, could do wonders for not only his confidence but the teams confidence in him.
