Vancouver Canucks Reach 50 wins for the First time in Franchise History

By Jeff Zeffer

The Vancouver Canucks won their 50 game this season over the Columbus Blue Jackets by the score of 4-1 on Sunday. This game put the Canucks at the 50 win mark which would be the first time in franchise history.  During the game the Canucks started off like they always do; hitting hard and scoring the important first goal to set the tone of the game. This time around it was defenseman Christian Ehrhoff. After a mildly eventful 2nd period, in the 3rd former Hart trophy winner Henrik Sedin scored on the power play. Chris Higgins got the 3rd goal of the night to make it 3 – 0 for the Canucks. Then last R.J. Umberger finally got on the board for Columbus. But late in the 3rd Higgins decided to score his second goal of the night. Mason Raymond had three assist in this contest as well. Corey Schneider was in the net for the Canucks win making 39 of 40 saves and improving to a 15 – 3 – 2 record. While Columbus’s Mathieu Garon took the lost and saved 20 of 24 Vancouver shots.

It was a historic day for the Canucks winning their franchise 50th in their 40th NHL season. Now who’s up for a party?
