Canucks Clinch West Title Against Red Hot Predators
Despite the best of efforts, the Nashville Predators couldn’t hold off the leagues best Vancouver Canucks. Vancouver snapped the Predators 6 game winning streak.
After a scoreless first period, Mike Fisher gave Nashville a 1-o lead on a juicy rebound given up by Roberto Luongo. That capped the scoring for the second, but in the third, the Canucks proved their might as the Wests top team.
Two goals by Alex Burrows, and an empty netter by Aaron Rome seal the Canucks’ Western Conference title. The goal was Rome’s first of the season.
Despite the Predators loss they still cling to 6th place, and a playoff spot. They are currently 2 points in front of 8th place Chicago, but the Blackhawks have a game in hand.
The Predators need 3 wins in their last 5 games to keep themselves in the playoffs. Luckily, 3 of those games are against teams with a losing record.
Next game is Thursday against the struggling Colorado Avalanche at 8:00 P.M.
