Panthers News & Notes: April 6th
The Florida Panthers have been struck by the injury bug late in the season, losing two of their best players. Luckily, yet unfortunately for them, they aren’t in the mix of a playoff push. Tomas Vokoun (starting goaltender) and Stephen Weiss (line 1 centre) are both expected to miss the remainder of the season.
My take: The Cats can’t afford to have either of these guys out for the beginning of next season, as it could be a big year of improvement for the club. Hopefully they can lock up Vokoun and start fresh with each of these guys at 100% come preseason opening day.
On a positive note, the Panthers inked one of their top prospects, Quinton Howden to a 3-year entry level contract today. Howden tallied 79 points in 60 games with Moose Jaw of the WHL this season.
