Last night, the Ducks were in what some would call a ‘must-win’ game, as they lost game-one of the series and couldn’t afford to be down 2-0 heading back to Nashville.
The Ducks knew that, came out with a purpose and certainly showed that they weren’t about to lose two games in their own building.
Here is a look at the official boxscore via NHL.com.
ANA – PPG – Corey Perry (1) A: Saku Koivu & Lubomir Visnovsky
ANA – PPG – Teemu Selanne (2) A: Cam Fowler & Francois Beauchemin
NSH – PPG – Shea Weber (2) A: Sergei Kostitsyn & Mike Fisher
ANA – G – Bobby Ryan (1) A: Ryan Getzlaf & Francois Beauchemin
ANA – G – Ryan Getzlaf (1) A: Corey Perry & Francois Beauchemin
NSH – PPG – Patric Hornqvist (1) A: Shea Weber & Sergei Kostitsyn
NSH – G – Joel Ward (1) A: Martin Erat & David Legwand
ANA – G – Bobby Ryan (2) A: Cam Fowler & Corey Perry
Ducks – 5 / Predators – 3
To be honest this game was a total team effort and I did not notice one player who didn’t play well. With that being said, I have to note that the Ducks top line – Ryan/Getzlaf/Perry – was an absolute force last night, tallying 8 points between the three.
The Ducks took six penalties. Though that isn’t a wild number, if they take that many penalties every game they will be in trouble.
They almost blew a 4-1 lead. Though they held on for the win, the fact that Nashville was even in that game late was not good.
My 3 Stars
1. ANA – Ryan Getzlaf (GWG, 2A)
2. ANA – Corey Perry (1G, 2A)
3. ANA – Ray Emery (Win, 31-34)
Game-three of the series (tied 1-1) will be played Sunday at 3PT, 6ET)
