Player Review: Kevin Poulin
Kevin Poulin was one of the many goaltenders to suit up for the New York Islanders this season.
Poulin was very impressive when he was in net and posted a 4-2-1 record. Maybe even more impressive was his .924 save percentage and his 2.44 goals against per game.
Poulin is part of the reason that Al Montoya was brought in, because Poulin actually dislocated his knee-cap during warm-ups. Had it not been for that injury it seems likely that Poulin would have gotten a lot of the starts that Montoya did.
It would appear as though Poulin will be part of next season’s three player starting goalie race, along with Montoya and Rick DiPietro.
Overall I was very impressed with Poulin in the net, and was disappointed as usual to see him go down with an injury. He should be back next season and could turn out to be a very good NHL goaltender.
