As many Panthers fans already know, the club recently signed 33rd overall draft pick John McFarland to a 3 year entry-level contract.
What does he bring?
John McFarland is a very well rounded talent. He can score goals, pass the puck, and can handle himself in his own end. He is also a big kid and can battle physically upon his debut in the NHL/AHL.
What should Panthers fans be worried about?
Not much, last season in the OHL he was traded from Sudbury to Saginaw and put up just under one point-per-game. He has never been that flashy, he and the Panthers organization know what he’s capable of, and I don’t expect him to disappoint.
What are his OHL career statistics?
Regular Season – GP:171 G:66 A: 74 P:140
Playoffs- GP:22 G:9 A:7 P:16
This guy is a typical Panthers early draft pick; he works hard, he’s a team player, and his statistics are above average. Panthers fans should be excited about John’s debut within the next 2 seasons.
