Vancouver Canucks win 1 – 0 over the Nashville Predators, while limiting them to 20 SOG

By Jeff Zeffer

Last series the Vancouver Canucks sent home their biggest scare, the Chicago Blackhawks. Now they move onto the 2nd round of the 2011 NHL Playoffs to face the Nashville Predators. I think that even though these two teams had a 2 – 2 record against each other in the regular season. To me Nashville seems like an easier team to play against over the Blackhawks. Therefore I believe the Canucks can take this series in four straight games and the first game proved my theory.

The 1st period had no scoring, but to sum it up, it was like a snooze fest for the Canucks, as there were only 5 shots against Roberto Luongo.  The 2nd period was not any better for the Predators as they were only able to record 6 more shots. Mid way through the 2nd Chris Higgins, who was a deadline acquisition, scored to take a 1 – 0 lead. The 3rd period for the Canucks resembled Nashville’s 1st period as the Canucks only had 4 shots on goal. But they played defensively as a group, to hold on to the 1 – 0 win, to take a 1 – 0 lead in the series. The first star of the game was Pekka Rinne for saving 29 of 30 shots.

Game #2 is Saturday at 9 PM ET in Vancouver.
