NHL New York Islanders

Player Review: Andrew MacDonald

Andrew MacDonald was in my opinion the best defensemen for the New York Islanders this season, and should be a leader on the team for the next 10 years.

At only 24-years-old MacDonald has a bright future, and in his first full season with the Isles he was very impressive.

In 60 games MacDonald scored four times but added 23 assists. This best part of MacDonald is that even though he can contribute on the offensive end he is also a great defensive defenseman. This is shown by his plus nine rating on a team that as a whole went negative in goal differential.

The Islanders need to add a bit more talent to their blue-line, but they should do it by building around MacDonald who will be a top line defensemen for the next decade.

MacDonald did suffer a hip injury to finish off the season, but he should be able to play come the beginning of next season.
