Zenon Konopka wraps up our New York Islanders player reviews, and is the other iron man on the team besides Matt Moulson.
Konopka appeared in all 82 games for the Islanders this season, and I think most would argue did his role to expectations.
No one went into the season expecting Konopka to put up 15 goals, and he didn’t, with only two goals and nine assists.
This doesn’t mean that Konopka didn’t do a good job on the ice, as he was out there more as an enforcer than a goal scorer. Konopka had the most penalty minutes in the entire league, with 307.
While Konopka will never be a top line player, he has a lot of value and is by far the biggest fan favorite on the Island.
The Islanders will have to decide what to do with Konopka, who is a free agent. I think both him and the fans want him back on Long Island, so it is just a matter of coming to an agreement.
