Who Will the Philadelphia Flyers Select With the 8th Pick in Tonight's NHL Entry Draft?

Only a day ago, the Philadelphia Flyers didn’t have a draft pick until the 3rd round of this weekend’s NHL Entry Draft. Now, after one of the most shocking days in Philadelphia Flyers history, they now have the 8th overall pick in tonight’s 1st round.

The Flyers will no doubt be looking to draft a defensemen. So, let’s take a look at some of the defensemen available in this year’s draft.

Adam Larsson is widely regarded as the best defensemen in this year’s draft. Unfortunately, he more than likely won’t be available, as he’s probably headed to the Colorado Avalanche who have the 2nd pick in tonight’s 1st round.

That leaves a handful of defensemen who are slated to go in the top 15 picks.

Click on the names below for a full scouting report:

Dougie Hamilton – Niagara (OHL)

Ryan Murphy – Kitchener (OHL)

Nathan Beaulieu – Saint John (QMJHL)

Duncan Siemens – Saskatoon (WHL)

Jamieson Oleksiak – Northeastern (H-EAST)

Philadelphia came into this year’s draft with very few picks before yesterday’s trades; they won’t hesitate to acquire some more. That’s why I wouldn’t be surprised to see them trade down if they can still acquire one of the defensemen listed above.
