Vancouver Canucks Select Nicklas Jensen 29th Overall
Nicklas Jensen was selected 29th overall by the Vancouver Canucks in this year’s 2011 NHL Draft. Jensen is 6.03 tall, 185lbs and a native of Denmark. This year he scored 29 goals and 29 assist for the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League. Jensen also had a wonderful playoff performance this year, recording 11 points in 10 games. Jensen played for Denmark’s gold medalist Under-20 team at the D-1B tournament, where he recorded 2 goals and 3 assists for 5 points in 5 total games. Jensen is a big power forward, who has 30 goal upside in the NHL. What I like about Jensen most is his vision and playmaking ability. He is also not afraid to go into the corners.
Playing North American hockey for one year has helped him out a lot. But reading through all the news about Jensen online, it seems there is a consensus that he is a boom or bust player. In my opinion I am think he is going to be more of a boom. It is likely to see Jensen back with the Generals for next season.
