Is there room for Nazem Kadri up the Middle?

An early look of Toronto Maple Leafs depth chart does not favour Maple Leafs top prospect Nazem Kadri this season. With the offseason addition of Tim Connolly and Mathew Lombardi, I suspect Kadri will be looking at a full time job as a winger. Kadri is a very young and talent center and will be playing at that position, at some point, long term. But having the veteran presence of Connolly and Lombardi this season; it looks to me like Kadri will be sliding over to the wing position.

Now unlike Cody Hodgson of the Vancouver Canucks who has zero chance of making it as a center with the Canucks (news @ CanucksPuck.com) because of the likes of Henrik Sedin and Ryan Kesler who are signed long term. There is hope for Kadri in Toronto because of the two veterans Brian Burke added this offseason, are both injury prone and are only signed in Toronto for one and two years respectively. Therefore Kadri will get his chance, but not this coming season. Overall the future is bright for Kadri.

I’d be amazed and disappointed if the Kulemin/Grabovski/MacArthur line is broken up. Lupul will play on the A unit, IMHO.

If ’tain’t broke, don’t fix it.

I was under the impression that the Leafs don’t expect Lombardi to be available for most of this season. Perhaps Kadri does indeed claim a third line spot?
