Minnesota Sends Sheppard to San Jose

By Matt Farland

The Minnesota Wild made their third deal of the off season with the San Jose Sharks this weekend, as they swapped center James Sheppard for a third round draft pick in the 2013 NHL Draft.  Sheppard, a former first round draft pick, appeared to have a lot of potential before his appearance in a Wild uniform.  However, he collected just 49 points for Minnesota in his first 3 seasons.  Sheppard then missed all of last season with a non-hockey related knee injury.

Earlier this summer, the Wild sent Brent Burns, Martin Havlat, and a draft pick to San Jose.  Minnesota also received Devin Setoguchi, Dany Heatley, Charlie Coyle, and two draft picks from the Sharks.
