Philadelphia Flyers defensemen and newly crowned captain, Chris Pronger skated with the team today in an abbreviated practice.
Pronger hit the ice with his teammates for practice sooner than many expected. The Flyers defenseman hopes to be ready in time for the Flyers season opener on October 6th against the Stanley Cup Champions, the Boston Bruins. While today was a small step, it was a positive one for Pronger. According to Anthony SanFilippo of the Delaware County Times, Pronger took his reps with Andreas Lilja.
The Flyers also announced some roster cuts today, the 15 players below are heading back to their collegiate or junior teams.
Etienne Boutet, Ricard Blidstrand, Shayne Campbell, Nick Cousins, Campbell Elynuik, Austin Fyten, Sam Grist, Simon Gronvaldt, Michael Houser, Tomas Hyka, Derek Mathers, Jonathan Narbonne, Marcel Noebels, Brendan Ranford and Colin Suellentrop.
