New York Rangers vs New Jersey Devils Preseason Opener Preview

By Johnny Machurek

Tonight the New York Rangers will kick off the preseason against Atlantic Divison rivals the New Jersey Devils.  The game will be played in the state capital of Albany.

Let’s take a look at the roster the Rangers will use in game one tonight.

Goalies: Henrik Lundqvist and Cam Talbot

Forwards: Artem Anisimov, Sean Avery, Ryan Bourque, Erik Christensen, Andre Deveaux, Brandon Dubinsky, Carl Hagelin, Shane McColgan, J.T. Miller, John Mitchell, Christian Thomas, and Dale Weise

Defensemen: Brendan Bell, Michael Del Zotto, Steve Eminger, Tim Erixon, Dan Giradi, and Dylan McIlrath

Some things to watch for is can Ryan Bourque carry over his success from the Traverse City Prospects Tournament and make the Rangers regular season roster.  Another thing to watch is the defensemen, with alternate captain Marc Staal out with post-concussion symptoms can someone like Erixon or McIlrath take advantage of the invite and make the squad.  Also, it will be exciting to see how the Rangers 1st round pick from the 2011 NHL Entry Draft J.T. Miller plays in his first NHL action.

I think I speak for all Rangers fans when I say I am excited to have hockey back.
