Heatley and Setoguchi have a recent history of success against Red Wings

By Eric Ryan

The Detorit Red Wings will meet a familiar and formidable pair of players when they play at Minnesota tonight.  In the offseason, the Wild traded for Dany Heatley and Devin Setoguchi from the San Jose Sharks.  Both players aided in ushering the Wings out of the play-offs last season.

Heatley scored once and has three assists in the 2011 Stanley Cup conference semi-finals against the Wings.

Setoguchi downright tortured the Wings.

He had three goals, including the overtime winner, in the extremely important game three in Detroit.  In the series, Setoguchi had five goals and one assist.  That one assist was on the series winning goal as the Sharks won game seven 3-2.

This year, Heatley and Setoguchi are making themselves right at home in Minnesota.  Heatley leads the team with six points, and Setoguchi is second with five.

Minnesota is last in the league in scoring, averaging exactly two goals in their nine games.  Detroit comes in with a three game losing streak.  The Wings’s defense and goaltending should overmatch what the Wild has to offer on offense.  But then again, most people thought the same thing against Columbus Tuesday night, and the Wings lost 4-1.
