After Thursday’s practice, Bruce Boudreau made it quite clear that both winger Troy Brouwer and defenseman Mike Green would travel with the Washington Capitals on their two-game road trip to Carolina and to New York this weekend. However, Boudreau didn’t make it quite as clear as to how much game time either would see during the trip.
Boudreau has all but ruled Mike Green out for the game Friday in Carolina. Green has missed the past three games and hasn’t skated a significant amount with the team since suffering the ankle injury on October 22 against the Detroit Red Wings. He has skated lightly each of the past two days but has not fully taken part in the past nine practices.
While it seems as though Green has been ruled out, the same can’t be said about Troy Brouwer. Brouwer has missed the previous two practices after re-injuring the same shoulder he received shoulder surgery on this past summer. While Brouwer hasn’t practiced the past two days, it’s not like he has been idle for nine or ten days like Green so there is a good chance he will be in the lineup for both Carolina and the New York Islanders.
Boudreau didn’t make it clear either as to which goalie he would be going with for either contest. I would assume Tomas Vokoun and Michal Neuvirth would split games since they are on back-to-back nights.
Stay tuned for game previews.
