Red Wings lose again despite line changes and line-up changes
The Detroit Red Wings current six-game home stand was supposed to serve as an aid to help them snap their current six-game losing streak. So far, it has not.
The Wings lost 4-1 to the Calgary Flames tonight. After starting the season 5-0-0, the team is 0-5-1 in thier last six games. The fans at Joe Louis Arena started to display their confusion/displeasure in the third period of tonight’s game.
For the first several minutes of the final period, the crowd was silent. Then, “Let’s go Red Wings!” chants rang out after the Justin Abdelkader line had a great shift about five minutes into the third. After a Flames goal on a terrible turnover, with the score now 3-1, silence again. After a pathetic power play, fans turned and booed for much of the last 8:30 of the game.
When the usually extremely loyal Red Wings fans at the Joe start to turn, it becomes evident that there is a serious issue.
The Wings have scored six goals in their last six games. Head coach Mike Babcock has even jumbled the lines in order to try to get more production out of his scorers. So far, that has proven to be ineffective.
