Hurricanes top prospect Ryan Murphy, who is currently playing for the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL is out indefinitely following an illegal hit from Tom Kuhnhackl from the Niagara IceDogs.
If you haven’t seen the video of Ryan Murphy getting destroyed yet here it is.
Ryan Murphy was the Hurricanes 12th selection in the 2011 draft by the Hurricanes, the Hurricanes picking another former Kitchener Ranger the year before when they selected Jeff Skinner in the 2010 draft.
Tom Kuehnhackl received a 20 game suspension for the charging penalty that was clearly directed at Murphy’s head, as he had also left his feet on the play. The German born Kuehnhackl was drafted late in the 2010 draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Ryan Murphy was listed by the Rangers as in “complete shutdown mode” and may be out for the World Juniors in late December as well.
