The Pittsburgh Penguins (9-3-3) host the NHL-leading Dallas Stars (11-3-0) tonight at the Consol Energy Center in a battle of conference leaders.
Winger Tyler Kennedy is technically a game-time decision as he battles back from a concussion, but the Penguins are not expecting him to play. There is a better chance of Kennedy playing tomorrow night in Carolina.
The Penguins called up Eric Tangradi yesterday. Tangradi has been playing well with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, recording seven goals and 12 points in 12 AHL games.
Tangradi had a very underwhelming training camp prior to this season, but the team is rewarding his solid play with a short-term call up. Tangradi took line rushes this morning on the team’s fourth line with Craig Adams and Joe Vitale.
Marc-Andre Fleury will be in goal for the Pens, while the surprising Kari Lehtonen will mind Dallas’ net. Lehtonen is 11-1-0 this season with a 2.13 GAA and .936 SV%.
Here are Pittsburgh’s lines from the morning skate:
Steve Sullivan – Evgeni Malkin – James Neal
Chris Kunitz – Jordan Staal – Pascal Dupuis
Matt Cooke – Richard Park – Arron Asham
Tangradi – Vitale – Adams
Brooks Orpik – Deryk Engelland
Paul Martin – Kris Letang
Alexandre Picard – Matt Niskanen
Game time is 7 PM and will be televised on Root Sports and NHL Network.
Let’s Go Pens.
