It has been reported that Mike Green will not make this week’s upcoming road trip with the team after sustaining a lower-body injury according to Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau. Boudreau added that he hopes Green will be able to join the team possibly during the trip.
Green has been listed as day-to-day again, just four days after playing in his first game in three weeks. He had missed the Capitals previous six contests after suffering an ankle injury in the Capitals win against the Detroit Red Wings on October 22nd. Boudreau stated that Green will remain in the nation’s capital and receive treatments, and if cleared could possibly rejoin the team midway through the trip.
John Erskine, who was scratched for Saturday night’s game, and Roman Hamrlik, who left Saturday night’s game with an upper-body injury, are both expected to make the road trip to Nashville and play.
The Capitals will make the trip with, as of now, six healthy defensemen who are capable of playing. With a day in between each game the Capitals play, they could always recall a player from Hershey and fly him in if need be. Heck, if Boudreau really needed to, he could always put Brooks Laich on the blue line yet again.
The Capitals begin their three-game road trip tomorrow night in Nashville against the Predators. Stay tuned for a game preview.
