On Tuesday the Florida Panthers unleashed a 6 to 0 victory over the Dallas Stars. This loss was by far the worst loss that the Dallas Stars encountered so far in 2011.
Florida really set the tempo early with a 2 to 0 lead. The Panthers outshot Dallas 14 to 4 in the first period. Florida really set the tempo to this brutal loss. Dallas had already lost 2 games in a row prior to the Panthers six to nothing victory over the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night.
Losing to Florida the way Dallas did can be a huge confidence drowner. The streak started at Consol Energy Center and has continued for the past week.
Dallas plays the Colorado Avalanche tonight at the Pepsi Center. Dallas has to defeat the Avalanche tonight to regain their momentum. I like Colorado in this game. I feel like the Avalanche are due for revenge after Dallas suffered consecutive losses.
Dallas will bounce back at some point in the upcoming weeks. I feel like this team has lost some mental confidence. The Dallas Stars have battled some scrutiny and adversity as of late since a week ago when the Stars had the NHL’s best record heading into their contest with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Things have changed now. Dallas needs to win one game just to regain their confidence against the rest of the NHL’s best teams moving forwards.
The Dallas Stars have been sliding slowly in the NHL Standings since their loss to Pittsburgh. Dallas went from having the NHL’s best record prior to last Friday’s loss to 7th overall in the Standings.
Despite this slump the Dallas Stars remain the top team in the Pacific Division for the 2011-2012 NHL Season. The Dallas Stars had somewhat of an early luxury with the division lead. Now the San Jose Sharks are within one point of catching up to the Dallas Stars.
