Tom Gagliardi was witnessing the Dallas Stars facing the Edmonton Oilers in the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, as the team was enduring a 5 game losing streak prior to the puck dropping on Monday Night against the Edmonton Oilers.
1st Period Recap
There would not be much action in the first period. Toby Peterson scored his first goal of the year on a wrist shot. This would give the Dallas Stars a 1 to 0 lead after the first period. Dallas outshot Edmonton 14 to 7 in the first period.
2nd Period Recap
Steve Ott delivered his third goal of the year on a wrist shot which would give the Dallas Stars a 2 to 0 lead over the Edmonton Oilers. Ryan Nugent Hopkins would respond though scoring his 8th goal of the season on a wrist shot cutting Dallas’s lead to one goal. Later in the second period Michael Ryder would convert a wrist shot goal to give Dallas a 3 to 1 lead. Dallas outshot Edmonton 13 to 7 in the second period and outshot the Oilers 27 to 14 through 2 periods.
3rd Period Recap
Late in the 3rd period Radek Dvorak scored a shorthanded goal when Edmonton pulled their goalie. Dallas outshot Edmonton 8 to 4 in the 3rd period.
Dallas was clearly the more aggressive team from start to finish. Its not even close the Stars clearly wanted this game more than the Edmonton Oilers.
