With the return of Vladimir Sobotka and the highly antisipated return of David Perron, along with Alex Pietrangelo fighting over the flu bug that plauged him much of the last week, the Blues have assigned Fairchild and Sterling back to Peoria.
While with the big league squad Sterling impressed many playing some 4th line minutes along with getting some power play time on the Blues lackluster PP unit. Sterling dressed in 4 games for the Blues, did not record a point but I imagine that if the Blues wind up with another long term injury to a forward that Sterling would be one to get the call if the Blues need to recall a forward from Peoria.
Fairchild on the other hand has already been back and forth between these 2 clubs a few times already but has only seen action in 1 game and only logged 10 and a half minutes of ice time. However, for his first NHL game against one of the better NHL teams in the Washington Capitals I was also impressed with Fairchild’s game and I think that he has a future with this team as well as Sterling.
Both made it back to Peoria in time for last nights 3-2 loss vs. Milwaukee, Sterling and Fairchild were both a -1 and both recorded 2 shots. Fairchild recorded assists on both of the Rivermen goals (both PPG’s). Both will be back in action tonight looking to bounce back against Rockford.
This will be today’s only post because I am still not happy with last night’s game and if I were to write up a recap there would be F bombs dropping every other word and I’ll save you all the hassle of reading that. I’ll leave it at this, I hate the Blackhawks and every single one of their bandwagon fans. And to the SOB that laid his hands on me last night you are so lucky that I didnt swing at you. Because of the way I’m feeling, I’m declaring Tuesday National punch a Red Wings fan in the face day! Good ole’ family fun.. I’ll be participating, will you?
