Game Day Preview: Columbus Blue Jackets @ St Louis Blues -- 12/18/11

By ryanfrahm

Overview:  The Blue Jackets (9-19-4) and the Blues (18-9-4) both looking to bounce back after 1 goal losses last night.  This is gonna be short and sweet because I gotta be up for work before 7 tomorrow and I am gonna be going non stop til late Monday night so let’s just get to it, shall we?  We all know what happened to the Blues last night as we dropped to 0-4 in shootouts this season.  Columbus were beat on the road by Tampa Bay 3-2.

Last Season:  The Blues beat Columbus 4 out of 6 last season.  But the turning point in the season was the first meeting between the teams was a total ass kicking by Columbus (8-1) which ruined the Blues 9-1-2 start and sent them spiraling out of control.  That loss cost them TJ Oshie and was the first of 5 consecutive losses.

This season, they are 1-0 vs. the BJ’s with a 2-1 win in Columbus at the end of last month.

Injury Report:  Blues- Crombeen, Sobotka, McDonald, Huskins are out and Arnott (flu) is questionable.

Jackets- Martinek is out with a concussion

Who’s Hot:  TJ Oshie scored last night and took the game to OT and is one of the number forwards on the team

Vinny Prospal, who recently played his 1000th NHL game, has played well in his first season with the Blue Jackets.  He has scored 6 points (1-5) in his last 6 games and has 26 points in 32 games.

Prediction:  Blues should win handily if they play anything like they did tonight in Nashville.  Halak should be back in goal and should see about the same amount of rubber tonight as he did last night.

Other Notes:  Check the Blues website for some traffic advisory stuff again.

Sorry this was so short.  Recap will be better… hopefully… LGB!
