Nazem Kadri and Darryl Boyce Get Called Up
In two separate moves General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs Brian Burke called up forward Darryl Boyce yesterday because of the unexpected news that Colby Armstrong suffered a concussion on Saturday against the Vancouver Canucks. Boyce was glad to be the one who was called up this time. Boyce thought that Joe Colborne should of been the one to be called up.
From Toronto Star
“No, I think it’s all on a rewards basis — Joe (Colborne) played great and deserved to be called up,” said Boyce, who signed a one-year contract this past summer. “Myself, I had to be patient. Injuries happen, so I’d get my opportunity.”
Boyce will give the Maple Leafs, league bottom penalty kill some much needed help. He has lead the Toronto Marlies to a top ranked penalty kill this season.
In other news Brian Burke called up top prospect Nazem Kadri to fill in for Philippe Dupis who was placed on injury reserved with an upper body injury today. Kadri will skate on a line with Tim Connolly and Clarke MacArthur when the leafs travel to Buffalo to face the Sabres.
This is the 2nd time Kadri will be up with the Maple Leafs this season. Earlier this year Kadri played three games where he recorded one assist. Hopefully this is the time where Kadri can preform and produce like a top 10 draft pick and help get the Maple Leafs out of their scoring woes.
