Ron Wilson’s Uncle Johnny Wilson, Dies at age 82
Ron Wilson’s uncle Johnny Wilson who was four time Stanley cup winner with the Detroit Red Wings, passed away this week at the age of 82.
Ron Wilson broke the news of his Uncles passing on Tuesday.
“My uncle, Johnny Wilson, passed away this morning at 82 yrs. He was a warrior thru & thru, right to the end. Our family will miss him dearly.”
Johnny Wilson playing career consist of playing for four teams; Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers. Johnny success was in Detroit where he was a part of the Red Wings dynasty in 1950, ’52, 54′ and ’55. Over his playing career Johnny registered 171 goals and 171 assist in 688 games.
After his playing career Johnny coach seven seasons in the NHL, with jobs with the Detroit Red Wings, Colorado Avalanche, Pittsburgh Penguins and Los Angeles Kings.
Johnny has helped nephew Ron with some tips over his coaching career.
There have been no details released yet in the cause of Johnny Wilson’s death.
