#4: Kevin Shattenkirk
When the trade was made last season that sent Jay McClement and Erik Johnson to Colorado in exchange for Chris Stewart and Kevin Shattenkirk, nobody thought that Shat would be the key player in that deal. The way I saw it, Shat and EJ both young, offensive defensemen were about equal so the trade was basically Stewart for McClement, straight-up. Wrong again.
Shat has been awesome for the Blues this season and has probably been their best defenseman. Right now he is tied for 4th place on the team with 20 points. If the PP picks up in the second half, Shattenkirk is a PP QB and all plays go through him, so if it turns up there is a good chance that he could easily brea the 50 point barrier. Hopefully Kevin and Alex Pietrangelo will be like Pronger and MacInnis back on the blueline for years to come.
