Nicolas Deschamps scores in his Toronto Marlies Debut

Talk about timing! Toronto Maple Leafs General Manager Brian acquired Nicolas Deschamps from the Anaheim Ducks early, Tuesday morning in exchanged for prospect Luca Caputi.

Oddly enough both player faced each other the same day they were traded and Deschamps wasted little time impressing his new coach. He scored one goal on one shot with a +1 in a 2-0 win over the Syracuse Crunch. While Caputi recorded 2 shots and a -1.

Deschamps quote;

“It was kind of weird, I found out at 4 o’clock, just before the game. It was weird, and pretty exciting, too.

Marlies Coach Dallas Eakins quote;

“Especially the way it happened here tonight. We send Caputi over to their side and they send (Deschamps) over and they wore each other’s numbers. It was a real difficult situation for both players, but I thought Deschamps came in and played well.”

With the win last night, the Toronto Marlies improve to 18-12-5 and remain in first place in the North Division.
