It was nearly 18 months ago when the Montreal Canadiens acquired Lars Eller from the St. Louis Blues. A trade which had to be done by the Canadiens because of their goalie dilemma, with two young number one goalies they had Jaroslav Halak and Carey Price. The trade consisted of Canadiens receiving Blues prospects, Ian Schultz and Eller in exchange for Halak.
Now after a season and a half and 113 games Eller has played for the Canadiens. Game 114 was the one all Habs fans were waiting for. Eller’s four goal game (which included a penalty shot goal) was a bone crushing, career performance, which led the Habs to a 7-3 win.
At the end of the game Eller received a heartfelt ovation from a crowd of 21,273 spectators.
Now Eller’s four goal game was not the only significant achievement by a Habs player Wednesday night. Travis Moen recorded three assists in the win, which puts him at 15 points for the season. Six points away from his 21 career season point season Moen had, when he was with the Anaheim Ducks in 2006/07. Eric Cole had a career game in ice time, with 27:04 minutes played.
