Teddy Purcell Puts On a Show At American Airlines Center
On Friday night the Tampa Bay Lightning were hoping to get a win against the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center. Two players on the Tampa Bay Lightning managed to stand out.
The Tampa Bay Lighting’s second line had the most success against the Dallas Stars in Friday Night’s win. The Lightning’s second line featured center Vincent Lecavalier, left winger Martin St. Louis, and right winger Teddy Purcell. St. Louis is usually the first line right winger. On Friday, St. Louis lined up as the second line left winger due to the recent success of Steven Stamkos.
Stamkos did not have his best game without Martin St. Louis paired with him on the first line. Stamkos finished with 0 goals, 0 assists, and -1 on the +/- ratio.
Teddy Purcell was able to put on a show for the Tampa Bay Lightning with 2 goals. Purcell was not the lone wolf in Tampa Bay’s 2 to 1 victory over the Dallas Stars. Martin St. Louis dished out two assists that Purcell managed to capitalize off of. Vincent Lecavalier was able to aid out as well by making sure the Dallas Stars defenders focused in on him with double teams.
Tampa Bay has been one of the leagues worst teams in 2011-2012. The Lightning really did a nice job capitalizing on scoring chances in critical situations. That was probably the biggest factor in their win on Friday Night.
