NHL Fantasy Hat Trick
Hot and Cold Edition
January 22nd, 2012
This is a fantasy hockey based weekly blog, where I will feature 3 hot and 3 cold players each week, every weekend. So that you can use my suggestions, update and prepare your fantasy teams accordingly for the coming week.
Evgeni Malkin (PIT) – Malkin led all players with 7 goals last week. Malkin’s entire month of January has put him at the top of the league in scoring with 58 points, where he has a six point lead over second place which is currently held by 4 players.
Kyle Wellwood (WPG) – The former Toronto Maple Leafs and Vancouver Canucks forward is slowly having himself a nice season (8G & 21A). Wellwood’s most productive season was when he was a rookie back in the 2006/06 season, where Wellwood recorded 11 goals and 34 assist. If Wellwood continues at the pace he is at, he could match his rookie production. Wellwood on the hot list because of his 6 assist in his last four games. You should consider to add Wellwood for your fantasy, if you have 14 teams or more in your league.
Vincent Lecavalier (TB) – Lecavalier has found himself for the first time this season on my hot list. Lecavalier has been on fire over the month of January recording a point in every single game expect one. During that span of time Lecavalier has registered 5 goals and 8 assist over his last 10 games. Lecavalier is on pace to potentially have his best season since his 92 point back in 2007/08.
Sedin Twins (Van) – The Sedin twins are currently the 1st and 6th overall ranked players on yahoo fantasy hockey. Now I know it’s only three games, but between the Sedin brothers they have only scored 1 goal in the last 3 games. This is why the Sedin’s are on my Cold list.
Patrick Marleau (SJS) – This is the second time Marleau has found himself on my cold list. Looking at Marleau’s game log, he has had a very hot and cold streaky season. Marleau’s recent hot streak saw him score 15 points in 12 games. But Marleau has dropped of the map again with 1 goal in his last six games. I am one who is happy that I do not have Marleau on any of my fantasy teams. His inconsistencies over the course of a season makes me sick.
Thomas Vanek (BUF) – Vanek. the 55 ranked player on yahoo fantasy hockey, has had a terrible January with only two points and a plus minus of minus six. I will suggest that you should bench Vanek on your fantasy teams for the time being. Vanek and the entire Sabres squad are in a free fall and I am sure there are other players on your fantasy team who can get you some fantasy points for the time being.
