Evgeni Malkin Named Second Star of January
Pittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin was named the NHL’s second star for the month of January today.
Malkin and the Penguins are currently riding an eight-game winning streak and sit fifth in the Eastern Conference – two points behind Philadelphia and four points behind the New York Rangers – despite the continued absence of Sidney Crosby.
Malkin recorded 12 goals and 16 points in 12 January games.
New York Islanders center John Tavares was named the NHL’s first star of the month, while Nashville Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne was third.
