NHL Fantasy Hat Trick
Hot and Cold Edition
February 5th, 2012

This is a fantasy hockey based weekly blog, where I will feature 3 hot and 3 cold players each week, every weekend. So that you can use my suggestions, update and prepare your fantasy teams accordingly for the coming week.

Same Gagner (EDM)
Gagner will remember this past week for the rest of his life. Gagner 4 goals and 4 assists performance made the Edmonton Oilers February 2nd, 2012 game against the Chicago Blackhawks a historic one. Overall, for the week Gagner lead all NHL players with 12 points in his 3 games.

Logan Couture (SJS) – The last pick of the NHL All-Star Fantasy Draft made my hot list this week. Couture is currently on a 6 game point streak, where he has recorded 4 goals and 5 assists. The 20 year-old is on pace for 67 points this season. Continue to play Couture is every fantasy hockey format.

James Reimer (TOR) – There were 9 shutouts across the NHL this past last week, but one of the better stories this week was that Reimer had two of those 9 shutouts. Look for Reimer to continue his performance in this week, as the Toronto Maple Leafs face the Edmonton Oilers and Winnipeg Jets.

Steve Mason (CBJ) – 33 and 10 are numbers that connect to Mason that feel like an eternity. 33 for the number of wins, 10 for the number of shutouts Mason recorded in his rookie season. This season, 5 wins, 0 shutouts and a whole lots of questions to answer. Don’t play, don’t play, don’t play him in your fantasy leagues. Your only hope is the 2012/13 season holds for better things for Mason and the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Brad Richards (NYR) – The New York Rangers are still trucking along in the Eastern Conference, but their prized free agent has not for the last couple weeks. Brad Richards is on a serious slump, where he has registered 1 goal and 1 assist, in his last 10 games.

Jason Spezza (OTT) – Spezza hasn’t been any better than Richards over the last two weeks. Spezza six game pointless streak is one of the reasons why Ottawa Senators are on six game slide.
