The New York Rangers keep rolling along, they defeated the Washington Capitals today 3-2. They remain in first place in the Atlantic Division and the Eastern Conference. They are second in the entire NHL and don’t look to be slowing down at all. The Rangers have a lot of good things about their team, they play good defense, they have some guys that can score goals, they play for the team rather then individuals. They love getting down and blocking shots, they love defending each other if they have too. The thing that really seperates them though is the goalie. Henrik Lundqvist is one of the best goalies in the league if not the best. He has to be considered for the Vezina trophy with out a doubt this season. Lundqvist is an excellent goalie. This season he is 26-11-4 on the season with a 1.81 goals against average. He has six shutouts on the season and a 939 save percentage. He has made 41 starts on the season, I also think having a good backup goalie like Martin Biron helps him. Lundqvist is able to take some days off so he can be rested. Biron is 10-2-1 with a 2.03 goals against average and a 919 save percentage. He has two shutouts on the season.
The Rangers look like they can make a deep run in the playoffs. They seem to be a stanley cup contender and I think they could at least get to the conference finals.
