Mike Comrie announces retirement

At 31 years of age ex Oiler Mike Comrie has announces his retirement after career ending hip surgery 2 weeks ago. Comrie was drafted 91st overall in the 1999 entry draft by the Edmonton Oilers. Mike went on to play for the Oilers for 3 seasons, scoring 30 goals once in that span and over 20 goals twice. A contract dispute sent Comrie to the Philadelphia Flyers were he played 21 games before moving on to the Phoenix coyotes. In 2009 Mike signed a 1 year contract to come back to Edmonton but in the summer of 2010 was not offered a new contract and signed with Pittsburgh instead. Comrie only played 21 games for the Penguins due to a nagging hip injury. Mike went through multiple surgeries in hopes of one day playing again but his last surgery 2 weeks ago ended all hope.In his playing career Mike Comrie twice scored over 30 goals and was a 5 time 20 goal scorer.
