Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jordan Staal has been fined the league maximum $2,500 for his hit on Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Braydon Coburn during Saturday’s game between the Keystone State rivals, according to NHL.com.
At 9:56 of the second period, Staal shoved Coburn from behind and into the boards. Coburn was a few feet away from the boards at the time of the hit and was sent into the side headfirst.

Staal was assessed a two-minute boarding penalty on the play and Coburn would return to play the rest of the game.
