Despite GM Poile’s comments about more trades coming, the Nashville Predators have been very quiet since the Hal Gill trade when it comes to actual trades or rumors with actual substance. However, the Predators are not ones to write off as a quiet team. Picking up two points tonight against the Vancouver Canucks. And what a game it was.
With this win, the Predators win the season series against the Canucks and gain on the Detroit Red Wings, as the Wings fell to the Chicago Blackhawks just moments later. You could tell the Predators were raring to go in this game, everyone from the top down had a little kick in their skate.
Mike Fisher kicked off the goal scoring bonanza at 5:42 in the second with assists from Ryan Suter and Martin Erat. However, it wasn’t until 19:23 did the depth of the desire to win really show. The score was 2-1 by that point and the Canucks were starting to show their– Canuck-y-ness.
The, metaphorical, hits kept coming as the Predators dominated the game. While the Canucks outshot the Preds, at the end of the game all that matters is the Preds managed to get the puck in the net.
Predators now sit comfortably in 5th place with 76 points, however, as we witnessed a few weeks ago, it only takes one slight slip and you’ve fallen from 1st to 6th.
Puck drops again Thursday at 7pm against the St. Louis Blues at home.
Let’s Go Predators!
