Toronto Maple Leafs Pay Homage to 1961-62 Team Prior to Game
Prior to the start of their tilt with the Washington Capitals the Toronto Maple Leafs paid homage to the members of the 1961-62 Stanley Cup champions. Probably one of the greatest Maple Leafs teams of all-time, they won three straight titles during the club’s last dynasty era.
As part of the ceremony the players wore the same jersey’s as the 61-62 squad, adorned with the names of the players from that legendary team. Several surviving members of the team were in attendance including the great Johnny Bower.

That’s an amazing list of players. it’s no wonder that team was so special. As an ‘Original Six’ team the Maple Leafs are rich in history and traditional but they have been a bitter disappointment to their rabidly loyal fans for years now. One can only hope that some day they return to the former glory days.
It’s always good for hockey when an original team is good. Just ask the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks.
