Zanon Expected to Make Bruins Debut

By Mark Abraham

Recently acquired defenseman Greg Zanon is expected to make his Bruins debut tonight against the New Jersey Devils.  Zanon was acquired by the Bruins from the Minnesota Wild for Steven Kampfer just before the trade deadline.

Zanon has a reputation for being a stay at home defenseman and an excellent shot blocker, an attribute Bruins fans will likely respect.  The 5’11”, 210 lb. left shooting defenseman made his NHL debut with the Nashville Predators and played there for three seasons before joining Minnesota for the 2009-10 season.

In 39 games this season, Zanon has 2 goals and 4 assists and has averaged 18:37 of ice time.  He has missed some time due to injury.  The stat that jumps out is the 104 blocked shots, which is 2.67 blocks a game, close to the top in the league.

Look for Zanon to wear number 6 on the ice.
